Chief of Strategic Finance

Grassroots Analytics (GA) seeks an ambitious financial and/or investment professional to join our executive team and guide the company through rapid expansion. 

COMPANY OVERVIEW
Grassroots Analytics is a boutique consumer data company that owns and operates an industry-leading high end progressive consumer database. GA has premier data on millions of progressive Americans with disposable income. Large clients include Democratic political campaigns, progressive non-profits, ESG funds, and socially-responsible businesses.

GA EBITDA has grown from $500k in 2018 to a projected $10m by end of 2021.

The company has scaled rapidly, growing from three full-time employees in 2018 to 35 employees projected at the start of 2022.

Grassroots Analytics is committed to an in-person office environment in Washington, DC at the company's headquarters (700 K St. NW).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Discover, drive, and own GA strategy
- Work with staff and key clients to identify industry trends, threats to revenue, and growth opportunities
- Identify and qualify potential acquisitions, overseeing the acquisition process and presentation to board through close
- Manage acquisitions as new revenue streams
- Manage GA Venture Fund, directing funding toward promising internal and external ventures, overseeing management and growth of existing portfolio, and negotiating collaborations as well as exit opportunities

Corporate finance responsibilities
- Develop and manage financial projections across various GA investments and revenue streams
- Manage treasury operations, including cash-on-hand, lines of credit, investor relations, and GA investment accounts

Management
- Manage cross-functional working team to ensure initiatives and targets set by the Chief of Strategic Finance are executed
- Foster a creative, collaborative, and trusting team culture

QUALIFICIATIONS
- Four year Bachelors degree program and CPA and/or MBA  (preferred, not required) from top tier institution with excellent documented scholastic performance
- Three to five years of experience in M&A investment banking, private equity, venture capital, strategy consulting, corporate development or related role
- Extensive financial modeling experience and proficiency with building informative and detailed models based on messy and/or limited data and information
- Experience working with large data sets and using statistical analyses; SQL experience a plus
- One to two years of highly reviewed management experience and leading teams in quantifying and solving ambiguous problems
- Possess progressive values – the Chief of Strategic Finance will need to seek financial growth within the bounds of GA’s progressive company values
- Personally driven, self-motivated, and excited to bet on yourself – compensation structure is tied to performance and provides significant opportunity for proactive self starters and outperformance
- Willing to work in-office from GA headquarters in Washington, DC

Fundraising Strategist

Title: Fundraising Strategist 
Type of Employment: Full-time
Salary: $55,000 - $75,000

Grassroots Analytics Campaigns is seeking a talented campaign operative to serve as Fundraising Strategist (FS) for a region of Grassroots Analytics campaign clients. The regional FS will provide fundraising and data consulting to their 100+ client campaigns, working closely with campaign staff to assess the campaign’s fundraising operations and offer guidance for how to maximize dollars raised.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Learn how to operate GA’s donor targeting algorithm and pull lists in Stata
- Onboard new clients to GAC services after they sign on
- Partner with campaigns to help identify their best donor universe
- Assist campaign staff in developing effective call time, texting, and email fundraising programs
- Advise campaigns on crafting finance plans and provide tips to candidates and staff on the most effective ways to ask for money and develop fundraising messages
- Work as part of GAC staff who are constantly innovating new ways to help campaigns raise money
- Help campaigns identify talented fundraising and management staff

*Regional Fundraising Strategists will manage a Regional Data Analyst; FS will report to the Director of Campaign Fundraising Strategy.

INTERESTED APPLICANTS SHOULD:
- Have at least two cycles of campaign finance experience, with at least one of those cycles as FD, DCM, or CM
- Have experience using Grassroots Analytics data, and an understanding of how to help campaigns get the most out of the call time, text, and email lists
- Be willing to learn basic coding skills (no prior experience required)
- Feel excited about helping hundreds of campaigns build out top-tier fundraising programs

Salary range for this position is $55,000 – $75,000, plus benefits. Applications are welcomed on a rolling basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The digital team works with GAC clients to optimize online fundraising. This includes advising small, upstart campaigns on running DIY digital programs and advising large, top tier campaigns on navigating the digital space.

The Senior Digital Fundraising Strategist will be expected to develop digital fundraising campaigns and create content over email, text, and social media advertisements for Democratic candidates. This is a great opportunity for someone who has political email experience and would like to put those skills to use in a different setting than a digital firm or in-house campaign shop.

The Senior Digital Fundraising Strategist will report to the Digital Director.

SENIOR DIGITAL FUNDRAISING STRATEGIST CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
:
• Develop digital fundraising strategy campaigns and timeline for clients to meet strategic list-building and fundraising goals
• Write, create, and produce content for multiple platforms, including email, text, and social media advertisements
• Run and track A/B tests to ensure the best open rates, click rates, and conversion rates
• Communicate frequently with clients (candidates and staff) to give updates and provide strategic advice. This includes the opportunity to periodically visit campaigns in-person to work with the candidate and campaign staff on the ground.
• Learn how to use GA’s STATA database to pull hyper targeted donor lists (no STATA experience necessary – all skills will be taught by the GA technical team) to successfully build email lists for clients

INTERESTED APPLICANTS SHOULD:
• Have 2+ years of experience managing or working with Democratic email fundraising campaigns (Looking for quality of experience over quantity!)
• Have strong writing skills to create compelling fundraising copy centered around Democratic candidates and ideals
• Basic HTML knowledge and experience with various CRMs, texting platforms, and advertising platforms
• Appreciate and understand the role data can play in the campaign fundraising space

JOB DESCRIPTION
The campaigns subsidiary at GA is organized in two teams: Sales and Campaign Strategy. The Sales team collaboratively prospects campaigns and organizations, creates and executes marketing and sales plans and strategies, and onboards new clients running for all levels of office nationwide. The Campaign Outreach Leads are each responsible for an assigned region in the United States and facilitate the marketing and sales process of acquiring and onboarding new clients in that region. The Campaign Outreach Lead – Northern Region will report to the Director of Campaign Sales.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead marketer for region consisting of 16 states
- Research, reach out, and develop relationships with campaigns, campaign staff, digital firms,
political consultants, and organizations within region
- Use a variety of sales methods including email campaigns, calls, meetings, one-pagers, case studies, and demos of data to pitch and close deals
- Utilize Hubspot CRM to keep track of communication, contacts, companies, deals, leads, etc.
- Curate list of targets, including city level races, state legislature level races, statewide races,
Congressional races, Senate races, and other elections within region
- Negotiate contracts with prospective clients, with final approval at the discretion of the Director of Sales
- Learn how to use GA data with STATA to make a demo of data and understand the product that you
will be selling (Campaign Outreach Lead will be trained by GA Campaigns technical staff)

INTERESTED APPLICANTS SHOULD:
- Have worked on a campaign in a finance or management capacity (i.e., finance director, finance assistant, call time manager, campaign manager, deputy campaign manager, field staff) for at least one cycle, preferably 2020. Finance experience preferred,.
- Have experience in a customer service role
- Be outgoing, comfortable with cold calls and other outreach methods
- Be willing to spend some time at the beginning of this job learning about GA's database and algorithm – no coding or data experience necessary, just a willingness to learn!
- Be in tune with current and upcoming political campaigns, especially congressional races
- Appreciate and understand the role data can play in the campaign fundraising space
- Feel excitement about the role Grassroots Analytics plays in democratizing campaign fundraising

Commission structure is an island model with three islands. Each person in charge of one island will receive commission from clients they sign in their island.

- Different commission values for statewide, PACs, one-off lists (email or mobile acquisition,
etc.); congressional races; local and city races
- Commissions are released upon receipt of client’s invoice payment rather than at client onboarding. Commission is paid out after the client remits payment to GA that surpasses the threshold for their specific commission value.
